Access Times
Via Access Times you determine when students can chat. This setting does not apply to employees and is deliberately separate from AI Policy.
Three Access Modes
- Always on: students can chat at any time.
- Access times: per weekday you set a start and end time using the slider.
- Always off: chat access is completely blocked.
The server checks the set mode on every new AI request. A student already logged in therefore cannot send a new message outside the window.
Environment and Exceptions
On Environment you set the default. Under Schools and groups you only add exceptions:
- add a school exception;
- load groups within the school only when necessary;
- load students within a group only when necessary;
- choose Inherit, Always on, Access times, or Always off and save.
The resolver applies settings in the order environment → school → group → student. A level without an exception inherits the above setting.
Temporary access
Select a school, group, or student and start temporary access for 30, 45, or 60 minutes. An active session shows its remaining time and can be extended by the same intervals or stopped immediately. Active access lists the groups and students that currently have access.
The server determines the end time. Closing or refreshing the admin page does not change the session; at the exact end time the student falls back to the regular access mode.
During a session you can disable internet search, images, code execution, and connectors. You can also limit context or the number of interactions. These restrictions can never relax stricter environment or school rules.
Scheduled access
Enter a start and end time and choose Add access window. You can schedule several one-off windows and remove them before they end. The selected session restrictions also apply to the window you add.
Access times cannot lift a block in AI Policy. AI is only available when both the AI policy and access times allow access.
Testing
Check changes with a student account from the relevant school or group. Test before, during, and after a scheduled window, plus the exact end of a temporary session. Also verify that a teacher can only manage assigned groups.
