Recording (Vastlegging)

The Recording tool (vastlegging) enables the AI to save information as a markdown document linked to the current chat session. Documents appear in the side panel and can be edited by the user.

How It Works

When you ask to record, save, note, or document something, the AI creates a structured markdown document. This document immediately appears in the chat's side panel. You can edit it afterwards.

The AI can create multiple separate documents for logically distinct topics, and can update existing documents from the same chat session.

Usage Examples

  • "Record the learning objectives for this lesson"
  • "Save the feedback you just gave"
  • "Note the steps we discussed"
  • "Make a summary of this conversation and save it"
  • "Record the exercises and worked examples separately"

This tool is disabled by default. An administrator can enable it in the admin panel.

Document Structure

Each recorded document consists of:

  • Title: Short, descriptive name shown as the document heading
  • Text: Full content in Markdown format, with headings, lists, and paragraphs

Documents are saved in the documenten collection and linked to the current chat session.

Multiple Documents

The AI can create multiple documents per chat session, each with its own title. Documents are shown in order in the side panel. Logically distinct content — such as learning objectives and exercises — is saved in separate documents.

Updating Documents

If you ask the AI to modify a previously recorded document from the same chat, the AI updates the existing content instead of creating a new document.

Viewing Recordings

When the Recording tool is enabled, a Recording button (📄) appears in the chat toolbar. This button is only visible on the chat page and only when the tool is active.

Click the button to open the left panel directly on the Recording tab. You will see all documents created during the current chat session, sorted in order.

Editing by the User

Recorded documents can be edited by the user in the side panel. You can:

  • Edit the text
  • Change the title
  • Delete documents
