Switching to AI-School
Are you switching from another AI system to AI-School? Then you usually cannot automatically transfer conversations, memory, gems, assistants, or custom GPTs. Some systems do offer an export, but it sometimes takes a while and is not directly suitable for import into AI-School.
What does work well: have your old AI system summarize what it knows about your preferences and way of working. You can then use that text in AI-School.
Step 1: create a short personal instruction
Open your old AI system, for example ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot. Ask this question there:
Using what you know about me, create a good system prompt for a generic AI program, so that this program can take into account my communication preferences and useful information from my history that may be important for follow-up questions.
Take into account:
1. My role, context, and type of work
2. My recurring goals and tasks
3. My main themes and domains
4. My preferences in communication and collaboration
5. My writing style and tone
6. What I find annoying
Do this in 100-150 words
Check if the answer is truly personal and useful. If your old AI system does not use memory or history, the answer may be very general. Then only take over what is correct.
Is the text useful? Then copy it into AI-School under Preferences > General instructions and information > Extra instructions.
Don’t see General instructions and information? Set your view to Standaard. In Instappen, advanced preferences are hidden.
Step 2: optionally create personal assistants
If you worked a lot with fixed tasks, gems, assistants, or custom GPTs in your old AI system, you can also have a proposal made for new assistants in AI-School.
Use this question for that:
I am switching to a new AI system and want to set up a set of useful gems / assistants / custom GPTs there.
Use what you have learned about me from our previous conversations.
Design the 3 most valuable specialized assistants for my work.
For each assistant, I want this format:
1. Name
2. Description
3. System prompt
4. A short example of a good user question
5. Optionally, which tools this assistant needs, such as internet search, and which documents should be added
6. explanation of why you think this assistant is useful
Avoid abstract assistants such as “creative thinker” or “general helper”.
Only choose assistants with a clear task, recognizable input, and directly usable output.
Use the result as a draft. It’s better to create a few sharp assistants with a clear task than many general helpers. Only add documents or tools that the assistant really needs.
Check what you transfer
Do not blindly transfer everything from an old AI system. Especially check for:
- personal data;
- confidential information;
- old or incorrect preferences;
- general text that adds little value.
A good switch often consists of two parts: a short personal instruction and some practical assistants for recurring work.
