Managing Class Groups

Class groups are particularly useful when a school wants to enable the "Anonymous Login" feature for students. In this case, the school does not create permanent accounts for students, but provides access based on a temporary code. The code is linked to a class group. This allows the teacher to track students during the session.

Management Environment Settings

To enable anonymous login, the following settings must be changed in the management environment:

  • Reading and writing rights for class groups must be assigned to board admin, admin, and staff roles
  • Anonymous login must be turned on in the environment
  • On the Google Identity Platform, the "Anonymous Login" method must be enabled on the tenant

Anonymous Login with a Login Code

AI-School supports anonymous login using a login code. This code is linked to a class group. The teacher can create a class group and distribute the code to students who wish to log in anonymously. The code changes every hour on the hour.

To enable this, the "Anonymous Login" setting must first be activated in the environment. This can be set by the environment administrator.

Teachers can create a new Class Group in the Groups overview by clicking the plus button in the top right.

Create Class Group

The teacher can then copy the access code for this class group.

Copy Access Code

This access code changes every hour on the hour. The teacher can send this code via email or Teams to the students. The student can then log in by clicking the "Log in with Access Code" button.

They must then enter a name and the access code.

Enter Access Code

An anonymous account automatically receives student rights and is linked to the class group via the login code. This allows the teacher to view the history of these anonymous accounts.

Class Group with Anonymous Accounts

Anonymous accounts cannot log in again with the same account. This means that the chat history is only available during the session.

Class Groups in the Management Environment

In the management environment, class groups can be edited and deleted. The class groups can be set to invisible. They can also be sorted differently.

Class groups have an automatic expiration date at the beginning of the next school year. This can be set differently in Retention Periods.
